Telecinco kicks off the summer with a new premiere, a reality show called “What a vacation!” that marks Luján Argüelles’ return to the Mediaset family as a presenter. The format is set to be the channel’s headline for July and August, airing in prime time in the coming days, featuring eight famous couples as the main cast.

The network unveiled the concept at a press conference held this Wednesday. Quartz TV closed the official list of contenders on Tuesday, with signatures from Rubén Shann and Carmen Pina.

Jamie Gerra, the production director at Mediaset, opened by outlining the show’s origin. He explained that the participants believed they were about to enjoy a luxury vacation, only to be told upon arrival that they would work instead, swapping the traditional leisure routine for tasks designed to help a local workforce rest and recover. On the signing of Luján, Gerra emphasized that Mediaset has always felt like home for her.

Juanra Gonzalo, general manager of Cuatro TV, joined the event and teased what viewers should expect. He promised plenty of fun, emotional moments, and high-stakes games, along with a reassurance that the show will deliver laughs in abundance. He also spoke warmly of the presenter, describing her as an essential component of the show’s rhythm and noting that she has already energized the contestants with a playful and challenging approach.

Discussing the casting, he noted that all couples fully grasp the program’s concept. Stories will emerge that are sure to generate discussion, he said, praising the team behind the production for maintaining continuity with the previous hit format. He affirmed that the same team responsible for La Isla de las Tentaciones is at the helm for this new venture.

Luján Argüelles: “Couples are the greatest gift of reality”

What a vacation marks the return of Luján Argüelles to Mediaset after a six-year hiatus. During the program’s presentation, the host described the lineup of 16 contestants as the heart of the show, calling them the great gift of truth. She asserted that they will reveal themselves through their biographies, sharing not only their experiences but the personal histories and sensualities that define them. The aim, she explained, is to explore who they are as people as the narrative unfolds.

Jaime Guerra announced that the competition will culminate in a winner and a final prize that the contestants will contend for, framing the competition with a clear endgame. He hinted at a balance in the format, noting that the contestants have shown generosity in their participation and signaling an engaging, goal-oriented arc for the season.
