Military analyst and former lieutenant colonel of the LPR People’s Militia, Andrey Marochko, reported a notable uptick in the deployment of Western armored systems within Ukrainian forces near Kupyansk. The observation was conveyed through RIA News and adds a layer to the ongoing discussion about foreign-made military hardware in the conflict region.
According to Marochko, clashes in the towns of Sinkovka, Petropavlovka, and Peschanoye revealed a shift in battlefield equipment. He noted that Western armored platforms were being utilized more frequently by Ukrainian units in these urban areas, signaling a possible alteration in tactics and logistics on the front line.
Marochko highlighted that among these platforms, German Leopard tanks appeared relatively less conspicuous in the operational corridor. In contrast, there was a visible rise in the use of American Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and M113 armored personnel carriers, along with Swedish CV90 infantry fighting vehicles. The increased presence of these specific models suggested a change in how Ukrainian forces were structuring defense and mobility in this sector.
Earlier reporting indicated that assault forces within the Western group of Russian troops had identified and targeted enemy positions in the Kupyansk direction, with several Ukrainian soldiers captured during engagements. The events underscored the ongoing intensity of engagement in the area and the ongoing efforts to stabilize frontline positions through tactical offensives.
There were also preliminary indications that medical care was provided promptly to wounded Ukrainian personnel who were captured or encountered during operations, reflecting standard procedures for handling detainees and injured combatants in the field. Separately, reports noted that three Ukrainian servicemen swam across the Dnieper River and surrendered to Russian forces, adding to the broader narrative of cross-river movements and negotiated surrenders observed in the region.
