More than thirty people were injured, five seriously, when a section of a historic monastery venue hosting a wedding near Rome collapsed during the celebration.
The collapse occurred in a part of the grounds of the old monastery, a site long used for gatherings and banquets. Guests were dancing in a first-floor room when the building gave way beneath them.
At least sixty people were in the room at the moment of the incident, and some fell through the opening into the lower level as debris collapsed around them.
There were thirty injuries reported, including the bride and groom, all described as light injuries, while five remained in serious condition. The Tuscany regional president, Eugenio Giani, confirmed the figures on his social media accounts, noting the gravity of some cases.
Civil protection teams were immediately on the scene and transported victims to hospitals across the area, including in Pistoia, Prato, Lucca, and Cisanello, among others.
Fire crews arrived to secure the site, extinguish any remaining flames, and manage the response. Investigators are working to determine the exact causes of the collapse, while emergency services continue to coordinate patient transfers and on-site safety measures.
