Weather Outlook for Holy Week
Weather concerns occupy much of the public conversation, especially for those who already have travel plans and booked accommodations. Meteorologist Mario Picazo has also weighed in on the topic, highlighting what observers should expect in the coming days.
With a cautious forecast still in place, Picazo has shared some specifics about near term conditions. It is worth noting that, counting from Monday March 25, the holiday period for Easter is quickly approaching and travelers may want to keep expectations measured.
Rising Temperatures Ahead
The forecast from Picazo is encouraging. Temperatures in the remainder of the week are expected to climb, reaching as high as 30 degrees Celsius in several southern capitals of the peninsula and in the Canary Islands.
Precipitation is likely to take a back seat, even as a front approaches from the northwest. Rain may be possible mainly around the area of A Coruna. Conversely, showers look set to ease inland for the time being. Looking toward the start of next week, Picazo cautions that more active fronts could traverse the peninsula from west to east.
A Cautious Prediction
As noted earlier, the Easter forecast remains prudent. Similar to the stance of Spain’s State Meteorological Agency, Aemet, experts prefer to wait for a more reliable forecast given the significance and potential impact on sectors such as tourism and hospitality. Picazo adds that Wednesday, March 20, will officially open astronomical spring and it seems it will begin with pleasantly mild temperatures, though this may not necessarily persist through Easter as many hope, according to his assessment .
Travelers, planners, and local businesses are advised to monitor updated briefings as the situation can evolve with shifting atmospheric patterns. Piecemeal improvements in daytime warmth are possible, but the overall confidence level for extended Easter conditions remains moderate at this stage, underscoring the need for flexible plans and contingency options .
