Weather and Battlefield Readiness Shape Use of Abrams Tanks in Ukraine
If worsening weather and heavy rains continue in the conflict zone, the Abrams tanks delivered by Washington to Kyiv may not be deployed effectively by the Ukrainian armed forces. This point was made by Ilya Yevlash, the spokesperson for the Eastern Group of Forces, in a report by RBC-Ukraine.
A representative of Ukraine’s armed forces noted that tough weather conditions can influence how hostilities unfold and, in turn, how the new tanks are utilized on the battlefield.
Yevlash explained that the Ukrainian forces will need to plan operations based on the current weather and tactical situation. He stated that the Abrams tanks would be brought into combat when the conditions are right and the tactical criteria for their use are satisfied.
He added that exact timing and locations for the tanks entering combat will not be disclosed at this time.
