Emergency medical personnel responded to an incident at a water park in Marina d’Or, Castellón, where six individuals suffered chlorine-related symptoms. The incident occurred early Tuesday when calls were received regarding respiratory distress and nausea among guests at the resort complex.
A team from the Emergency Medical Assistance Service, along with Basic Life Support and a conventional ambulance, attended the scene. Six people were transported for treatment at a health center, including a seven-year-old boy and an eight-year-old girl. A 42-year-old woman was admitted to Castellón General Hospital, while a 49-year-old woman and two men aged 47 and 49 were discharged at the scene according to health sources.
Initial assessments indicated the poisoning resulted from a measurement issue with one of the chlorine level probes, which reflected a lower reading than intended and contributed to elevated chlorine exposure. The Civil Guard coordinated the response, and Sanitat conducted a routine check in the area, confirming that the facility’s systems were functioning correctly. The company representatives stated they would review the incident and clarified uncertainty about immediate medical care, while downplaying the overall impact of the event.
