Civil Security is investigating a clearly violent death at the Algímia d’Alfara waste facility, where a body appears to have been dismembered. The discovery was made on Tuesday as workers were sorting through municipal waste material. The scene prompted an immediate response from local authorities and a pause in ongoing work at the site.

The incident was detected around 2 a.m. and prompted a rapid mobilization of professionals and investigators. By about 6 a.m., the body had been exhumed with the help of judges, coroners, undertakers, and Civil Guard officers from the Sagunt Forensic Police team, who were among the first units to arrive from the Homicide Squad. Specialists from Valencia and the Crime Lab joined the examination, coordinating the forensic effort to document the scene and gather evidence.

Forensic physicians from the Forensic Medicine Institute conducted a formal autopsy to establish the victim’s gender and to determine the exact cause and circumstances surrounding death. The preliminary assessment focused on whether the injuries were produced by the truck’s mechanical process at the time of the incident or if dismemberment occurred prior to the accident. The investigation will determine the sequence of events and identify any additional factors related to the body’s condition.

The Algímia d’Alfara waste plant processes solid urban waste from a broad area that includes Valencia and Castelló. From the outset, a consortium of 56 municipalities from Camp de Morvedre, Alt Palància and Plana Baixa has served Palancia Belcaire. A prior agreement extends the plant’s duties to waste management on behalf of the V-5 Consortium, which covers 93 municipalities across La Safor, Vall d’Albaida, La Costera and Canal regions, including Navarrés and Vall de Cofrens-Aiora. These arrangements position the facility as a central hub for waste management across multiple counties, making the incident particularly consequential for regional operations and public safety. The ongoing inquiry aims to clarify responsibilities and ensure proper handling of the waste stream involved as part of the forensic and administrative review. This summary reflects initial findings from local and regional authorities and is intended to provide context for follow-up reporting.
