War Robots: Frontiers, a third-person shooter that pits players against each other in highly tactical battles, has landed its first major post-launch update. The title, which began Early Access in November, centers on intense combat featuring a diverse lineup of highly customizable robots. Built on Unreal Engine 5, the game currently reaches PC players through the Pioneer Bundle on the official site and on Steam, with plans to expand to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in a free-to-play release at a later date.

The new update broadens the arsenal with two fresh robot classes, three versatile weapon systems that can be mounted on most existing machines, and two new skill modules. With these additions, players can craft thousands of unique configurations in the hangar, tailoring their loadouts to different strategies and maps.

new additions

Two new robot classes arrive to shake up objectives and tactics. Griffin emphasizes sensor disruption, using radar and optical jamming to distort enemy cameras when opponents look in its direction. Typhon brings crowd control, able to strike up to three targets in a single assault, making it a prime choice for coordinated teamfights.

New high-tech weapon systems arrive alongside the bots: Halo, Pulsar, and Gozer. Halo weapons excel at hitting multiple targets, Pulsars fire medium-range energy projectiles, and Eyes—depending on how many are equipped—offer long-range impact for precision strikes. These tools expand combat roles and allow players to mix and match for different battlefield needs.

Two skill modules round out the update by improving stealth and positioning. The Wall of Smoke blocks enemy lines of sight for stealthy advances, while Blocking Zone deploys protective barriers to secure key positions on the map. In addition, the update enhances the tutorial experience, refines the hangar interface, and adds new language support, improving accessibility for a broader audience. This update marks the first of multiple waves planned during the Early Access period. In the weeks ahead, players can expect more maps, additional mods and weapons, new skill modules, and broader system expansions. Graphical fidelity improvements, balance adjustments, and further technical polish are also anticipated before the final release date.
