Vsemporemontu conducted a survey among Russians to discover the problems people ran into during apartment renovations last year. socialbites.ca reviewed the findings of this study and shares the key insights. The results show a mixed picture of satisfaction and conflict for those undertaking renovations. Only 44.7% of respondents expressed satisfaction with the work done. A further 18.3% did not actively participate in disputes but experienced substandard results as victims of poor quality. Meanwhile, 37% reported having a conflict with a renovation company or crew. Within this group, 16.3% described minor disagreements, 8.9% said disputes were resolved peacefully, 7.9% felt compelled to pursue legal action, 7.4% did not see a resolution to the conflict, and 6.8% indicated that they had to hire a new contractor. The survey identified the main stress points during apartment renovations. Roughly one in three Russians highlighted poor workmanship and defects as a central issue (31.1%). An additional 23.6% noted that the company refused to fix identified deficiencies. About 19.3% pointed to a discrepancy between the final price and the estimate originally provided. Other frequent causes of friction included missed deadlines by the contractor or team (13.7%), an unsatisfactory aesthetic outcome (9.9%), and breaches of warranty (8.1%). On the flip side, nearly a quarter of respondents, 23%, reported that they did not encounter any problems during their renovation process.
Vsemporemontu explored whether attitudes toward repairs shifted over the past year. The results indicated that 68.7% of respondents perceived changes in their approach. Specifically, 34.5% started to economize on renovations, 12.4% chose to prioritize renovation work over travel or other plans, and 10.1% faced delays or cancellations in their renovation timelines. Additionally, 8.6% began paying more attention to the selection of the company or team, while 6.4% reported paying less attention to renovation details.
Earlier remarks highlighted a recurring pattern, with at least half of Russian households experiencing some form of disturbance or damage caused by neighbors during renovations. This underscores the broader impact that renovation activities can have on neighboring living spaces and the importance of careful project planning and communication to minimize disruptions.
