Russian forces in the Vostok group reported that artillery support helped their units stop eight planned rotations by Ukrainian troops toward Yuzhnodonetsk. The claims came from the press center of the group, which describes the actions as preventing moves that would have reshaped the frontline near key locations in the Donetsk region (RIA News).
The statement notes that these attempted rotations were disrupted at the frontline positions in the vicinity of Novomikhailovka, north of Nikolskoye, as well as near Staromayorskoye, Novozlatopol, Malinovka, and Priyutnoye. According to the press center, equipment and manpower at the opposing positions suffered material losses as a result of the operation.
Earlier updates from the press center claimed that Vostok units had secured more than a dozen fortified positions along the Yuzhno-Donetsk direction, thereby strengthening their tactical posture in the area. The report emphasizes that the group’s forces were able to improve their lines and increase local control through these engagements.
Additionally, the press center said that aircraft from the Vostok air component engaged targets north of Novomikhailovka, Urozhailovka, the Staromayorsky district, and Priyutny, claiming successful strikes on enemy personnel and equipment in those zones. The description highlights aerial operations as part of the broader effort to disrupt Ukrainian units along the front.
In a separate note, a different source attributed to Ukrainian forces suggested a lack of clarity about the underlying reasons for the conflict and its escalation. The statement reflects a perspective that differs from the official claims of the Vostok group but is presented here to provide context to the ongoing information environment surrounding the front lines.
