The Governor of the Voronezh region, Alexander Gusev, stated through his Telegram channel that every resident of the evacuated settlements in the Ostrogozhsky district can now return to their homes. Officials confirmed that sappers have completed the demining of the villages and that there are no people in temporary shelters anymore. Gusev emphasized that while the danger from unexploded items has been cleared in these communities, hunters are still conducting checks of agricultural land and nearby areas. He urged residents of Ostrogozhsky district to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious items immediately by dialing 112. A special commission connected with the regional administration will continue its work, visiting households to assess the extent of the damage and document what has happened in the affected areas.
Earlier, Gusev had reported the effort to eliminate the aftereffects of a drone strike that targeted the Ostrogozhsky district in the Voronezh region. During the night of August 24, five unmanned aerial vehicles operated by the Armed Forces of Ukraine were brought down over the Voronezh region. Gusev noted that two civilians were injured in the attack, including a woman whose condition doctors described as serious. The incident prompted ongoing safety checks and a heightened focus on civilian protection in the area.
In the days prior to these events, authorities had also reported that explosive objects in the vicinity of Voronezh had ceased detonating, signaling a temporary stabilization of the security situation. Regional officials have pledged continued monitoring and rapid response efforts to prevent further harm to residents and to support affected families as reconstruction and recovery proceed. The response emphasizes coordinated action between emergency services, law enforcement, and local government to restore normal life while maintaining strict vigilance over potential threats.
