A resident of the Voronezh region faced charges of death by neglect and failure to fulfill parental duties. The investigation into the criminal case against the woman has been completed, according to the press office of the Regional Investigative Committee of Russia.

In the incident, a 30-year-old mother lived with her two daughters, aged 8 and 12, in a boarding house on Likhachev Street in Voronezh.

When the youngest daughter fell ill, the case file indicates that the mother refused to seek medical help. Over time the girl became unable to sit up or hold utensils. While feeding the victim in October 2022, the mother became distracted and left her unattended. Tragically, the child choked on food and died. The mother later called an ambulance and found her daughter already without signs of life; medical personnel confirmed the death at the scene.

The eldest daughter was removed from the family and placed in a social institution. Subsequently, she was temporarily placed with a relative with the mother’s consent.

The accused fully admitted her guilt, and the statement from the father of the deceased further strengthened the charges that will be considered in court soon.

Recent reports from May 22 indicated a different incident in the Urals, where the sister of the accused allegedly drowned in front of their mother and did not inform her about it, according to local authorities.
