A Volgograd resident convicted of causing serious harm to his own mother described his account of the events, as reported by the press service of the regional prosecutor’s office.
According to the case file, on February 29, 2024, a Leninsk resident in the Volgograd Region asked his 76-year-old mother for money to buy cigarettes. The mother, upset by the request, confronted him while he was living with her and facing his own struggles with addiction.
Witnesses report that the man began striking the pensioner in the head and chest with his hands and feet during the confrontation. The woman managed to flee from the apartment complex and call for help from neighbors, the district attorney’s office stated.
The defendant has pleaded not guilty to the charges, arguing that he caused injuries while attempting to revive his mother after she suffered a heart attack that followed their dispute.
The evidence presented by the prosecution contradicts the defendant’s version of events, indicating a pattern of violence rather than an accidental incident.
As a result, the man received a sentence of three years in a general regime penal colony.
In a separate note, a former Kaliningrad region resident was described as having sought legal outcomes that would compel a longtime offender against his daughter to appear in court for accountability.
