The death of Mikhail Voitenko, editor-in-chief of the Maritime Bulletin portal, has been followed by a funeral that includes cremation in Bangkok. This update was provided to TASS by the consular service of the Russian Embassy in Thailand.
According to the embassy, the cremation is scheduled for January 11. The Consulate said it supported the relatives in preparing all the required documents, ensuring the process proceeded smoothly.
Voitenko had made his home in the Chonburi province on Thailand’s eastern coast for fourteen years. After a period of difficulty reaching him, his family members from Russia requested the opening of his apartment on January 1, and authorities gained access to confirm his passing.
Initial findings from investigators indicate that the 65-year-old editor-in-chief of the Marine Bulletin magazine died on December 29 due to a heart attack, with the events unfolding rapidly in the final days. Voitenko had only recently marked another birthday, having lived just over a week beyond it.
Voitenko founded the online publication Marine Bulletin in 2005, a portal that reports on maritime events and disasters. He was also involved in producing the English-language Maritime Bulletin, expanding coverage of global nautical developments.
Earlier reports mention a separate incident involving the poet Lev Rubinstein, who was described as having been involved in a car-related shooting in Moscow’s irregular crossing area. This note appears to be a separate news thread and not directly linked to Voitenko’s passing or the Bangkok funeral arrangements.
