Vodafone Spain reported 898 million euros in services revenue for the first quarter of its fiscal year, spanning April to June. The figure reflects a 3% organic decline against the same period a year earlier, driven by aggressive promotional activity and intense competition in the Spanish market.
The local arm of the European carrier partly cushioned the revenue dip with gains from roaming and tourism, alongside a pickup in demand from business clients, according to a Monday update.
Alongside better overall activity, Vodafone noted a growth in core mobile business. The company added 38,000 net mobile lines and lowered the churn rate by 2.5 percentage points, underscoring improvements in customer retention during the quarter.
At the same time the firm kept television and convergent service customers steady. The Lowi brand, positioned as a low-cost option, continued to gain traction with 84,000 mobile lines added, including 27,000 fixed broadband connections. In exchange, Vodafone handed over 30,000 broadband customers to the market mix.
By the end of June, Vodafone Spain had 13.5 million mobile customers, 2.99 million fixed broadband customers, and 1.5 million television customers. The Lowi portfolio reached a total of 1.6 million customers in the same period.
In June the company launched a refreshed tariff portfolio designed to offer greater price stability and reduce the tempo of temporary promotions, signaling a shift toward steadier value propositions for customers.
Executives described the update as part of an ongoing experience transformation for the business. Facing strong competition, the leadership emphasized differentiation and sustainable growth through structural changes and a shift in organizational mindset to strengthen Vodafone’s market position.
