A troubling incident involving paramedics and an assault on medical staff

An emergency response was triggered when a man, reportedly intoxicated, summoned an ambulance and then attacked the medical team. Footage of the episode later circulated on the Telegram channel known as 112, drawing public attention to the events that unfolded in the early hours of the morning.

The confrontation began on May 10, during the pre-dawn hours. Before the distress call, a resident had contacted the dispatcher to report that his long-time girlfriend, with whom they had been drinking, was not feeling well. The situation quickly escalated as responders arrived at the scene to assess and assist the patient.

Upon the team’s arrival on Lomonosov Street, the arriving paramedics were confronted by the caller who began displaying aggressive behavior. The individual pursued the ambulance driver, attempted to enter the building hall, and was restrained only when a friend intervened to prevent further escalation.

According to statements from the Petersburg branch press office of the Russian Guard, the medical workers had to activate the alarm to call for additional support as the situation deteriorated. Witnesses described a sequence in which the person who had called for help started an argument with one of the doctors, struck the medical professional in the head several times, and ultimately knocked him to the ground.

The incident prompted responders to seek assistance from colleagues to stabilize the situation and provide care for the injured medic. The attacker was eventually escorted to a police station by security forces following the confrontation at the scene.

The news adds to a growing concern about violence against medical personnel. In March, a separate case was reported in Bashkiria where a resident assaulted a pediatrician due to perceived delays in delivering care. These events underscore the dangers that frontline health workers can face even during routine emergency calls.

Emergency services continue to emphasize the importance of safe access to medical care for patients while ensuring the safety of the staff who respond to urgent situations. Investigations into these incidents are ongoing, with authorities reviewing all available evidence to determine appropriate legal actions and to strengthen protective measures for emergency responders in the future.
