A 33-year-old man was taken into custody this morning as the alleged assailant in a violent incident in the city centre. The accusation centers on an attack where he is said to have struck his 57-year-old father on the head with a blunt object while both were inside a residence. Police sources confirm the arrestee was attempting to flee the area by train when he was stopped by authorities.
The Villena Civil Guard Judicial Police are examining the sequence of events that led to the assault. Early reports indicate the victim, who was asleep at the time, was surprised by his son, who rose from his sleeping space and struck him with a weapon that had not been located during the initial assessment.
Upon receiving the alarm, security teams arrived quickly. The incident was classified as an attack on a person in the urban zone of Villena and occurred around seven-thirty in the morning. Agents from the Armed Institute promptly went to the scene where the events reportedly unfolded and found a 57-year-old man with a head wound, while his spouse was also present.
Witnesses and officers learned that the aggressor was the son who had entered the room where his father slept, woke him, and attacked him. It remains unclear whether there was any prior conversation between them before the assault.
Evacuation to Elda Hospital
Medical personnel provided care at the residence and then transported the injured man to Elda Hospital by ambulance, where he was admitted for treatment. Meanwhile, the Civil Guard coordinated with patrol teams to locate the 33-year-old suspect, who was soon apprehended at Villena railway station by Judicial Police and officers from the Citizen Security Unit.
Authorities believe the man intended to catch a train to escape the town. After his arrest, he was taken to the Villena barracks for formal processing before being presented to the judiciary for further actions in connection with the case.
