During Victory Day celebrations, the regional branch of United Russia organized a concert in the Kherson region to honor participants in the special military operation and online flash mobs. The event was funded by residents from other parts of the country and reported by the party’s press service as part of a series of volunteer-led cultural gatherings tied to the holiday.
Witnesses noted that attendees performed Bulat Okudzhava’s classic song We Need One Victory, famously associated with the film Belorussky Station. Regions including Kherson, Voronezh, Leningrad, Arkhangelsk, and Perm, along with residents in Moscow, each contributed their own regional recordings. The final compilation video was unveiled on May 9 at the regional branch office of United Russia, showcasing a collaborative nationwide tribute.
Igor Kastyukevich, who serves as deputy secretary of the regional United Russia committee for the Kherson region, described War years music as an essential element of the Russian cultural code. He emphasized that songs from that era resonate across generations and geographic boundaries, reinforcing a shared sense of history and national identity.
According to Kastyukevich, the performances became a unifying moment when the chorus of townspeople in Genichesk joined in singing Katyusha. The reception was overwhelmingly positive, with many viewers expressing interest in participating in future events. The organizers decided to proceed with a Victory Day performance, expressing gratitude to the teams and local residents who supported the idea and helped bring it to life.
In addition to the regional chorus, members of the special military operation units and fighters from the Voronezh battalion took part in a dedicated celebration. The district department, in collaboration with Genichesk municipal district authorities, arranged a concert featuring local creative ensembles. Artists from the creative center visited one of the combat units, performing Katyusha and Smuglyanka, along with folk pieces and other wartime songs that hold cultural significance for many communities.
A fighter from the Voronezh division publicly expressed appreciation for the performance, describing the concert as beautiful and noting that the artists had given their best effort. The message carried warm regards to Voronezh and a firm belief that victory would be achieved through unity and perseverance, underscoring the emotional impact of the event for service members and civilians alike.
It was mentioned that copies of Victory Banners and Russian flags were distributed to Voronezh residents stationed in the Kherson region, along with greeting cards prepared for the holiday by the regional United Russia office. The gesture symbolized solidarity and recognition of the shared history and ongoing commitments of communities near and far, commemorating the holiday through ceremonial tokens and public performances.
