Vasily Starkov, once the Minister of Transport for the Sverdlovsk Region, was extradited from a special military operation zone in Ukraine amid a criminal case tied to his former subordinate. The report originates from URA.RU and has since been confirmed by others following the case developments.
What Starkov faces exactly remains unclear at this stage, though authorities are expected to determine a preventive measure for him soon and make an official determination in the near term.
Starkov’s former subordinate, Vyacheslav Danilov, who previously headed the regional highway department, is currently under investigation in the same criminal case.
In May 2024 Starkov stepped down from the post he had held since 2016 and joined the Northern Military District as a volunteer. Before taking on that role he had been employed by the Ural Mining and Industrial Holding. The holding’s head, Sergei Mazurkevich, declined to comment on Starkov or the ongoing proceedings regarding his former employee.
Oleg Kolesnikov, a deputy commander of a volunteer battalion and a former State Duma deputy from the Chelyabinsk region, stated that he sustained a shrapnel wound during an attack by a FPV drone used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Rabotino.
Earlier, President Vladimir Putin issued guidance aimed at streamlining the permit system for participants in the special operation, seeking to simplify procedures for those serving on the frontline.
