Valencian Community Foundation for Construction Work is joining the innovation ecosystem at Science Park University of Alicante. This marks a new phase of collaboration between the two institutions, envisioning a future education center on the university campus focused on construction and related fields.

The signing representatives included Maria Jesus Priest, the UA vice-rector for Transfer, Innovation and Scientific Dissemination, and Esteban Pelayo, director of the Alicante Science Park, who acts as the manager for the Construction Labor Foundation. Also involved were María José Juan-Senabre Pérez and other foundation members, including Mercedes Giron, the general secretary of the Alicante employers association Fecia.

The collaboration brings together CNC and trade union bodies CC OO Construction and Services and UGT-FICAS. Since 1992, this coalition has worked to furnish companies and workers with resources that support a sustainable, safe, educated, and future-ready sector. The goal is a more united and connected industry that can meet the challenges of the modern era alongside society and other sectors.

As the foundation’s director notes, the partnership with the University Science Park will broaden its expertise in preventing occupational risks, education, employment, innovation, and sustainability, while embracing new technologies. This alliance aims to help build a progressive industry with a strong future.

María José Juan-Senabre Pérez emphasizes one strategic action: to unite technological innovations for study, research, and the adoption of new equipment and tools that enhance safety in the sector and in daily work. She adds that this collaboration will make the sector attractive to young people, support continuous professional training, and raise the education level of employees. The foundation’s presence in the science park will provide direct access to information about companies and institutions working on technological innovations that can be transferred to its member organizations. The focus remains on training, safety, and employment for professionals.

María Jesús Pastor, the UA vice-rector for Transfer, Innovation and Scientific Dissemination, expressed strong approval of including the Construction Labor Foundation in the park. She highlighted that the park now forms part of a vibrant innovation ecosystem that hosts scientific and technological companies along with organizations dedicated to research and development.

UA and the Foundation had previously signed an initial agreement, which also encompasses the inclusion of the science park in the innovation ecosystem. This arrangement will deepen cooperation with researchers and enterprises housed at the facility. Simultaneously, ongoing studies point toward establishing a major training center, marking the foundation’s first presence on a university campus.
