In a bold statement, the Valencia Innovative Ecosystem (VIE) was unveiled as a modern, interconnected platform designed to unify Valencia’s vast network of entrepreneurs, researchers, and tech leaders. The initiative brings together the most influential players in the Valencian innovation scene, including science and technology parks, business incubators, research and development centers, startup networks, and technology associations. It marks a concerted effort by regional authorities to showcase Valencia’s dynamic innovation landscape to the world, leveraging a platform built on Dealroom, a global standard for interconnected ecosystem platforms.
The sandbox at the core of Valencia Innovative Ecosystem aims to centralize the region’s entrepreneurial and tech networks in one accessible hub. It also elevates the community’s international profile by tapping into Dealroom’s reputation as a benchmark for ecosystem platforms globally.
Anthony Rhodes highlighted that the initiative is a natural progression in Valencia’s innovation journey. His belief is simple: strong supply drives demand. The platform has quickly turned heads, featuring over one thousand startups registered on day one, a testament to the region’s vibrant innovation climate.
As a result, Valencia’s innovative firms were urged to participate actively. The message was clear: technology should be dynamic and alive, a shared project that requires ongoing nurture to fuel a modern economic model capable of spreading across the community.
Speakers noted that innovation must weave into the traditional economy, which remains robust. By embracing risk and bold investment in new ideas, Valencia aims to lift productivity, raise incomes, and reduce regional inequalities over time.
Sonia Tirado, the innovations director, emphasized that the current era is defined by digital, green, and social transitions. These shifts influence climate policy, energy access, and overall well-being. The goal is a technological economic ecosystem that positively touches every person, supports democratic vitality, and strengthens business competitiveness and environmental stewardship.
To realize these aims, a Valencia-wide innovation ecosystem was established under Botànic governance. This new framework is meant to overcome the limits of earlier economic models by leveraging a powerful network of universities, science parks, technology centers, and cross-sector associations.
Officials stressed that progress did not happen by chance. The Botànic administration has shown remarkable commitment to supporting startups, technology centers, universities, and the creation of regional tech clusters. The focus is clearly on startups and larger tech firms that can drive regional growth.
Looking ahead, the Valencia Innovative Ecosystem is described as a field where opportunities are generated. It enables firms to forge connections with investors, workers, and even public administrations, creating synergies that accelerate growth and collaboration.
Much more than a virtual showcase
Mayte Vano, communications head for the Digital Zone of the Valencia Community, reminded attendees that 1,036 startups have already joined the platform. The achievement results from strong collaboration among the region’s leading innovation stakeholders.
The platform is designed as a collaborative, inclusive database that offers a detailed view of the Valencian technological sector. Its Deal Room capabilities enable members to share data and information more effectively, turning the local ecosystem into a connected network of peers and partners.
Mayte Vañó also noted that listing on the platform helps Valencia gain international visibility and recognition. The Dealroom has become a global standard, helping Valencia appear in international reports and research, which journalists and media outlets worldwide can reference to broaden the region’s reach.
Beyond cataloging startups, the database supports founders at every growth stage. In addition to boosting visibility, it facilitates connections with investors, identifies relevant government agencies, and supports talent recruitment across the global venture ecosystem.
As a result, investors, accelerators, and startups are expected to be among the chief beneficiaries of the platform’s information and networking capabilities.
Round table with platform champions
The conference featured a roundtable with key platform supporters. Participants included representatives from Alicantec, CEEIs, Valencia’s Science Park, Start Valencia, Alicante Science Park, and Xarxatec, among others. They agreed on the necessity of consolidating Valencia’s entrepreneurial information into a single, coordinated resource rather than letting documents scatter across separate portals.
Valencia Innovative Ecosystem is seen as a catalyst for stronger regional and international cooperation. Attendees argued that SMEs should be encouraged to collaborate more closely to scale up and access new markets. The aim is to establish Valencia as an international reference point, while fostering a cultural shift toward greater corporate collaboration and shared success.
Future challenges include ensuring that technology transfer to market remains well supported by funding, and that energy access issues are addressed. With a robust communication infrastructure, prestigious universities, technology centers, and a thriving talent pool, Valencia is positioning itself to offer a high quality of life and economic opportunity while advancing scientific and technological progress.
