A 26-year-old man was arrested in Valencia on suspicion of attempting a sexual assault in a bar restroom. He allegedly forced a boy to pull down his pants for sexual purposes. The attempt was interrupted when the boy escaped, and authorities say the gravity of the incident, given the victim’s age, led the judge to order temporary detention for the suspect.
The events took place last Friday around 8 p.m. at a cafeteria in Valencia. According to reports, while a small boy was using the restroom, another patron entered the same bathroom and is accused of raping the child by forcing him to drop his pants and assaulting him. The child managed to escape, and the suspect left the premises before police arrived at the scene.
National Police investigators identified the attacker the following morning and began arrests. Video footage from the workplace’s security cameras is being reviewed as part of the evidence, showing the minor entering the restroom while the man was inside.
The 26-year-old Hispanic man has prior criminal records, though he does not have documented sexual offense convictions. Sources familiar with the case have suggested the individual may have experienced some form of behavioral disorder related to impulse control, though no formal diagnosis has been established at this stage.
before the judge
Detained by the National Police, the man faces charges of attempted sexual assault and was placed at the disposal of Valencia’s Investigation Court No. 8, on duty. Before any formal injunction, his defense requested a forensic evaluation to determine mental health status and its potential impact on criminal responsibility.
Reports indicate the individual may suffer from a disorder, but a comprehensive forensic psychiatric examination is required to assess whether it might influence his criminal responsibility as a plea or as an extenuating circumstance. In light of the seriousness of the incident, and after consulting the Prosecutor’s Office, the court ordered the arrested person to remain in temporary prison until further notice.
