At least one person died and four others were wounded on Saturday in a fresh wave of bombardments carried out by United States forces in Yemen’s Saada province, located in the northwest of the country, according to Houthi rebels.

Anees al-Asbahi, spokesman for the Houthi‑controlled Health Ministry, posted on his official X account that, citing a preliminary tally from the authorities, one person had died and four were injured as a result of what he described as the “American aggression.”

According to the official, the strike targeted a house near a shop selling solar panels in the western part of Saada province, with no further details provided.

On Al Masirah, the insurgent network, the spokesperson said the attack occurred in the Hafsin area, where Civil Defense teams arrived to extinguish fires and assist victims of what they called the American aggression against a solar energy store.

The same outlet reported that one of the American strikes targeted a house adjacent to the solar energy warehouse in Hafsin, west of the city, offering the same casualty figure cited by the Health Ministry’s spokesperson.

During the night of March 15 to 16, the United States president, Donald Trump, ordered a large‑scale action against Iran‑backed rebels to reduce their capacity to threaten international maritime navigation.

As of now, according to the insurgents, roughly a hundred people have died in this latest bombing campaign, described as ongoing with nearly daily strikes by American forces.

The Houthis announced in November 2023 that they would attack ships trading with Israel in retaliation for the Gaza war, and that strategy has produced around a hundred attacks and a notable reduction in traffic through the Suez Canal, forcing many vessels to circle Africa to avoid the insurgents.

Although the insurgents had halted attacks on ships in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea after the Gaza ceasefire took hold in mid‑January in Gaza, they said they would resume strikes when Israel breached the truce to pressure Prime Minister Netanyahu to lift the siege on Gaza.
