Update on Gines Arson Investigation: Three Detained

Update on Arson Case in Gines Involving Three Suspects

Spanish authorities report that the Civil Guard has detained three individuals who are suspected of being involved in an intentional fire that damaged the home of a woman over 90 years old in Gines, Seville. The elderly resident had previously complained about disturbances at a pub where one of the detainees worked, a detail that is part of the wider investigation.

The incident dates back to April 26, 2022, when a phone call alerted emergency services to a fire located inside a residence in Gines. Civil Guard officers, together with firefighters, responded to the scene and forced entry into the home to gain access and begin investigations.

Inside the dwelling, a nonagenarian was found and required urgent rescue due to smoke inhalation. The woman was hospitalized in grave condition and remained under medical care thereafter.

During the early phase of the inquiry, investigators recovered footage from the day of the events. The video shows individuals approaching the residence’s window, carrying an unidentified object in their hands before the fire began.

Following the visual evidence, the Civil Guard’s Firefighting Team in the Andalusian region conducted an on-site technical ocular inspection of the damaged home to assess the scene and gather further clues.

As the investigation progressed, authorities identified one of the suspects as an employee of a local pub in Gines. The elderly homeowner had filed noise complaints against this establishment, linking the individual to the disturbance as a possible motive for the arson. Two other individuals tied to the incident were also identified, with one connected to false vehicle documentation relating to the crime.

The pub in question has a history of complaints from nearby residents, particularly concerning noise levels and late-night disturbances.
