A violent incident in Valencia unfolded early Friday when a 40-year-old man with a criminal record arrived at his ex-wife’s home and forced his way in with a knife. He attacked both his ex-wife and her current partner, leaving them with serious stab wounds. Emergency crews stabilized the two victims at the scene and then transported them to the hospital for further care.

A 39-year-old woman who was in the house sustained a deep abdominal laceration during the attack. She was bleeding heavily, and responders worked quickly to control the wound before moving her to hospital treatment. The assailant was described as the former partner who investigators believe may have been under the influence of alcohol or other substances at the time, and he reportedly had previously been jailed. He did not remain at the scene after the assault and was later arrested by the National Police.

The man considered the current partner of the woman also suffered serious injuries from two stab wounds, one near the chest and another in the abdomen. A SAMU ambulance transported the 25-year-old male victim to Valencia General Hospital, where both victims received urgent medical attention. Despite the severity of their injuries, authorities stated there was no immediate danger to either victim’s life.

The assault occurred on a rural property located on Lope Vega de Torrent street, just before eight in the morning. According to witnesses, the attacker confronted the ex-wife with a knife and appeared intent on ending both her life and that of her current partner. The scene showed signs of a struggle, including a trail of blood down the stairs and along the railing, which helped responders identify the victims’ movements during the incident.

When responders arrived, a SAMU unit and Basic Life Support teams were joined by local police from Torrent and the National Police. The officers conducted a rapid assessment and secured the area while medical teams provided life-saving care to the wounded. The collaboration between police and emergency medical services facilitated swift transport to Valencia General Hospital for the two patients, who remained under medical observation following stabilization at the scene.

Authorities confirmed that both women and the male partner who sustained injuries were admitted to Valencia General Hospital for treatment of stab wounds. Investigators recovered the weapon used in the assault — a large knife — and placed it in evidence for forensic analysis. The knife was found in a glass case near the crime site and will undergo examination by the criminalistics unit to determine its role in the incident and to gather forensic clues about the sequence of events.

The suspect was located in proximity to another Fallas-area residence in Torrent and questioned in connection with the case. He was then transported to a police station for further questioning and processing, including background checks that revealed prior violence against women and a history of imprisonment. Police are continuing to review surveillance footage and interview witnesses to reconstruct the timeline of events and to determine any triggers that led to the attack.
