Ukraine’s Energy System Faces Severe Damage and Widespread Outages
The head of Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy, Herman Halushchenko, told Ukrainian television that 271 hits were recorded on energy facilities across the country. Some of these facilities cannot be restored. He stated that, while 271 hits have been confirmed across different sites, there are power assets that have suffered damage beyond repair. The minister added that roughly half of the national energy system has been damaged, severely limiting the country’s ability to restore full capacity in the near term.
