Earlier, authorities confirmed that at least one person was killed and 13 were injured in Russian attacks on Pokrovsk, located hundreds of kilometers to the east. The city’s military administration said two Iskander missiles were used in the assault, causing damage to two buildings in the city center. Rescue teams worked through the rubble, and Ukrainian Civil Defense reported that at least three people were recovered alive from under debris. Pokrovsk lies in the Donetsk region, which has endured heavy fighting for years, with Avdiivka situated about 50 kilometers to the southeast as a longstanding frontline near the broader border areas of concern in eastern Ukraine.
