According to sources cited by TASS, Lieutenant Colonel Andrei Marochko, retired from the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) People’s Militia, said the Ukrainian Armed Forces have boosted the participation of women in frontline operations within the area of the special military operation. He noted that women who want to serve under contract in Ukraine’s armed forces today undergo the same recruitment process as men when entering contract service, emphasizing that pregnancy is a key factor checked during personnel screening. Marochko also mentioned that recent changes to legal documents have widened the range of military specialties available to women in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In early January, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Hanna Maliar, spoke about the voluntary service of women within Ukraine’s military ranks.
