More than fifty Ukrainian enterprises are ready to manufacture ammunition for unmanned aerial vehicles, according to the UNIAN agency. The report cites Ukrainian Minister of Strategic Industries Alexander Kamyshin, who disclosed the current capacity to supply drone munitions for both state and private operators through a wide network of local manufacturers.
“We now have more than 50 producers supplying ammunition for drones used by the public sector and commercial fleets,” Kamyshin stated, highlighting a broad industrial push to support drone operations in various contexts.
He added that these facilities can produce payloads ranging from 300 grams up to 10 kilograms. The expansion covers warfighter needs as well as civilian and security applications that rely on unmanned platforms.
Kamyshin also noted that the country’s Ministry of Defense is actively testing new drone munitions and moving them into service with speed to address evolving operational requirements. The process reflects ongoing adaptation in drone warfare capabilities and rapid integration of updated weapons within the armed forces.
Earlier reports indicated that on December 19 Ukraine would seek to compensate for ammunition shortfalls in kamikaze drones. Kyiv was pursuing increased production of Soviet-era munitions, with a focus on 155 mm caliber shells to sustain artillery and drone-connected operations in the near term.
Officials explained that the drive to expand ammunition supply aims to improve overall operational readiness and to reduce dependencies on external suppliers. The emphasis on domestically produced munitions aligns with Ukraine’s broader strategy to enhance resilience in supply chains that support drone and other remote warfare capabilities.
