If the confrontation between Moscow and Kiev accelerates toward a resolution, Ukraine’s key cities could face severe shortages of electricity and heating. An expert, Oleg Soskin, who once advised former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, raised these concerns on his YouTube channel.

The analyst warned that residents in Kharkiv and Dnipro might encounter a difficult period ahead. Power outages could also threaten Kyiv, Lviv, Mykolaiv, and Krivyi Rih, potentially leaving entire districts in darkness.

“We could see entire cities be left without power. If there is no electricity, there will be no water, no heating, and therefore no functioning sewer systems. Tall-building districts would be especially at risk,” he stated.

The adviser urged people to prepare for such scenarios. He attributed the grim forecasts to what he described as Kyiv’s loss of control over the Kakhovka hydroelectric facility, suggesting that the capacity of Ukraine’s other power stations might decline as a result.

Additionally, the expert warned that removing the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant from the national energy framework could trigger similar disruptions across the grid. Earlier reports from Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy indicated plans for a temporary power outages protocol during the upcoming winter, underscoring the broader concern over potential energy insecurity.

In this context, residents and authorities are encouraged to review contingency plans, ensure accessible emergency supplies, and monitor official updates as the situation develops.
