The armed forces of Ukraine conducted a volley of 20 rockets using multiple launch rocket systems in the Kievsky district of Donetsk. Meanwhile, the Russian defense ministry’s official spokesperson, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, stated recently that Russian forces eliminated up to 70 Ukrainian soldiers in the Yuzhnodonets and Zaporozhye directions.

On February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a decision to conduct a military special operation to protect Donbass, in response to requests for assistance from the heads of the Luhansk People’s Republic and the Donetsk People’s Republic.
