A fresh round of military assistance to Ukraine, organized under the UK-led International Relief Fund, is anticipated to arrive only by the summer. The Guardian reports that the funding process has stretched since December, with suppliers waiting on responses from the UK Ministry of Defence. There is concern that a second bidding round may endure a similar length of time, potentially slowing down the delivery of crucial arms to Ukraine.
Earlier coverage linked this aid to a broader US military assistance effort. The package aims to provide Auxiliary equipment for Ukrainian precision weaponry, artillery, armored vehicles, and additional ammunition for Ukrainian forces.
Within the package are items such as ammunition, tank bridge layers, and a range of equipment and spare parts needed to maintain and repair deployed systems, with particular attention to the 155 mm caliber HIMARS multiple rocket launcher systems and M777 howitzers.
The exact totals of ammunition and equipment included in the aid have not been disclosed.
On March 3, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced that the United States had delivered its 33rd military aid package to Ukraine, with a value of roughly $400 million.
