A court in Tyva Republic convicted a resident for the murder of a infant. This case has been reported regionally to the Investigation Committee for monitoring and transparency.

The ministry confirmed that the crime occurred on 10 December 2021. A woman visited a friend who lived in a private house with her six-month-old son. After consuming alcohol, the mother left to withdraw money, leaving the baby in the care of the friend.

Upon waking, the infant began to cry, provoking a strong reaction in the adult. The woman struck the boy’s head with her fists and then used a knife to stab the child in the face. The baby died at the scene, according to official statements.

The corpse was hidden by the attacker in the front yard of a nearby residence, a detail noted by investigators during the search for the child and the suspect.

The court sentenced the perpetrator to thirteen years in a penal colony, though another portion of the sentence reportedly involves a separate one-year term to be served. The final decision is not yet in force. Officials emphasized that the offender will serve the sentence in a general regime facility once the ruling becomes effective, subject to any possible appeals and legal procedures.

In related news, local authorities previously reported a separate incident in which a drunk resident of Voronezh assaulted his one-year-old grandson during a crying episode, prompting renewed discussions on child safety and domestic violence prevention across the region.
