The events in question occurred more than five years earlier, with the trial taking place in 2022. The defendant, a resident of Las Torres de Cotillas, was part of an online WhatsApp group that had a substantial membership. The group reportedly included 569 participants. Within that forum, the man began sharing images of child sexual abuse using a phone number registered to a local town pharmacy. The photographs depicted individuals under 12 years of age who had suffered sexual abuse. According to the court order, the defendant transmitted these images to the group with the explicit aim of fulfilling his sexual desires. His actions triggered a formal investigation by authorities.
To address the case, the Court of First Instance and Molina de Segura, along with the Security Forces and Institutions, issued orders to examine the defendant’s address and to seize his mobile device. Investigators aimed to uncover any further criminal documents or material that might reveal additional offenses or connections to other individuals involved in similar activities.
The hearing was concluded by consent, with the defendant agreeing to the terms of the sentence. The court imposed a sentence of two years in prison, but allowed a suspension of incarceration on the condition that the individual refrain from committing similar crimes for a 24-month period.
