In Alicante, a troubling privacy case unfolded when neighbors clashed and a dating ad appeared linked to a resident’s phone. Police sources say two individuals, a 44-year-old woman and a man, were arrested by National Police officers on charges tied to privacy violations after they published an advertisement promoting a well known dating site. The ad listed the victim’s phone number in connection with sexual contact aims, suggesting a partner search next to a contact line.
The investigation began after the victim reported receiving a flood of messages and calls. Those who reached out claimed they were members of a dating platform and proposed romantic and intimate arrangements. The victim insists she never posted her details on any dating portal. When officers asked the public for screenshots of the alleged profile, the victim confirmed the existence of an adult dating app online. The material included photographs of a woman unknown to the victim and a contact phone number associated with her, indicating that the person resided in Alicante and was seeking a close relationship.
Following an examination of the phone line owner and the dating site profile, authorities identified the perpetrators as a couple who were romantically involved and knew the victim through shared neighborhood disputes. Investigators found that the two had previously clashed with the victim, and that the offenses may have been triggered by those past disagreements.
The victim had harbored suspicions from the outset. In addition to ongoing neighborhood conflicts, the two suspects had used a pet’s name to register on the dating site connected to the case.
After the initial advertisement was cancelled, one of the authors continued to operate the profile using real contact information, compounding the violation and the potential harm to the victim.
The actions resulted in significant personal and professional disruption for the victim. Reports describe a pattern of harassment through sustained calls and messages that disrupted the daily routine of the victim and his or her family.
Once located, the suspects were taken into custody on privacy violation charges. After recounting the circumstances at a police station, they were released with orders to appear before the judicial authorities at a later date. The case highlights how abuse of a dating platform and misuse of personal data can escalate into intrusive and invasive behavior affecting various aspects of life, including work and home life. This incident serves as a reminder that online privacy depends on both responsible behavior by users and robust enforcement by authorities.
