Two Suspects Arrested in San Vicente del Raspeig Burglary Ring

Two young men, aged 22 and 24, are accused of breaking into at least three homes and injuring an officer lightly while trying to flee. Police officers carried out an operation during typical burglary hours, when residents are at work, catching the pair as they emerged from a house in the act. Both suspects have prior records and remain under precautionary measures after appearing in court.

San Vicente del Raspeig’s Civil Guard division began investigating last November after a rise in home burglaries within the town. The Benemérita increased patrols in affected neighborhoods, and after gathering details about the attacks, they identified two thieves who acted in a coordinated way. They would call an intercom in advance to confirm that no one was inside. One suspect monitored exterior access while the other forced entry using a lever or by lifting a stuck lock if the door wouldn’t budge.

Items seized from the detainees in San Vicente del Raspeig were shown in a later briefing. The robberies were executed quickly, with thefts spanning jewellery, cash, and electronic equipment, often completed within minutes. Authorities indicated that weekdays and office hours were the criminals’ preferred window, a tactic to avoid encounters with residents. After the theft, the suspects moved the stolen goods to the black market.

Investigation progress relied on information channels between the Civil Guard and local residents. Police later identified the two perpetrators as a 22-year-old Algerian man and a 24-year-old Moroccan man, both with prior offenses against people and property. A lack of a known address led to intensified surveillance at the time and place of the robberies, culminating in the two suspects being found as they exited a building in December after entering a home earlier.

Officers recovered a bag containing tools used in the break-ins near the area where the suspects were hiding. The Civil Guard moved in to arrest them as they approached. The suspects resisted, causing minor injuries to one officer, and faced charges for three counts of burglary, along with resistance and disobedience to authorities.

After detention, the suspects were taken to the police station and the seized tools were logged as evidence. A local court later ordered interim release with precautionary measures pending further proceedings. In light of these incidents, the Civil Guard urges residents to lock doors securely with keys, not just bolts, and to ensure doors and windows are properly closed. Citizen cooperation remains essential in preventing or clarifying such crimes, and residents in the Alicante area can report information anonymously through the local command’s channels, which are coordinated to prevent or clarify wrongdoing (Civil Guard, San Vicente del Raspeig) (citations attributed).
