Two Spanish nationals, aged 43 and 52, were arrested as the alleged masterminds behind thirteen robbery incidents targeting commercial premises in Benidorm since the start of August. One of the detainees is a repeat offender already imprisoned by order of the Benidorm security court for recidivism.
The arrest of the two suspected thieves was initiated by the Citizens’ Security agents and coordinated by the Benidorm Police Station Judicial Police III, with collaboration from colleagues within the same unit. A formal criminal complaint followed against the two individuals for the series of robberies that struck various stores across downtown Benidorm.
Authorities say the first report came from a landlord in early August. A Benidorm supermarket also reported a break in when the thieves shattered the entrance door glass and stole around six hundred euros.
The attackers persisted with break-ins, targeting restaurants and other shops through the same method. Police descriptions indicate that the suspects entered several commercial and restaurant buildings in the same sector around Levante Beach in a relatively short span, causing substantial damage to storefronts as doors were forced open to gain entry.
The Judicial Police III unit was charged with investigating these crimes.
Following identification, the suspects were searched and arrested. Three mobile phones were recovered and found to be a precise match to items stolen from stores, along with eight hundred euros in cash.
The total economic benefit from the thirteen robberies exceeded six thousand euros, comprising cash and goods taken from businesses. After completing the investigations, the detainees were placed at the disposal of the Benidorm security court. Police reported that one of the detainees displayed a high recidivism rate, and a confinement order was issued.
