In the early hours of this Sunday, two people lost their lives after jumping from a bridge on the AP-7. The incident occurred near Sant Julia de Ramis in Girona, where Mossos d’Esquadra attended the scene. The two victims were driving a van at a low speed and listed as stolen. A district patrol spotted the vehicle, which accelerated as officers approached. The occupants then left the van and leapt from the bridge into the Terri river below.
The two men landed on the left side of the bridge, leaving the vehicle on the right bank. Visibility was poor, and the drop was approximately 30 meters. The two victims have not yet been identified. The event happened around 03:00 in the morning and involved about 52.5 kilometers of highway on a high-rise bridge over the river.
open inquiry
The Mossos d’Esquadra opened an investigation and authorities suspect that the victims may have been thieves who targeted service areas along the AP-7. Data from Servei Català de Trànsit indicates that the northbound carriageway of the highway was temporarily closed to traffic as a result of the incident, while emergency responders conducted inquiries and secured the scene.
