In Sagunt, Valencia, two men were arrested by agents from the Family and Women Attention Unit (UFAM) of the local police, accused of sexually assaulting a girl under 16 after giving her alcoholic drinks that impaired her ability to resist. The detainees are a 33-year-old man of Colombian origin and a 22-year-old man of Venezuelan nationality.
The investigations began in mid-June when UFAM officers in Sagunto learned of a suspected sexual assault involving a minor under 16 near the Port de Sagunt beach area.
According to early findings, the victim was accompanied by a friend when, during the night, they met two men who took advantage of the situation to intoxicate the teenager after she was left alone with them. The girl, unable to exercise her will due to the alcohol consumed, was taken to the home of one of the suspects and sexually assaulted by both individuals on several occasions while she was intoxicated.
Two young women helped and alerted the authorities
After leaving the residence in a disoriented and confused state, the minor walked to a nearby park where other young women assisted her and contacted emergency services. A National Police patrol responded immediately to the scene.
Following an assessment of the circumstances, officers called for medical staff and the victim was transported to a hospital, where a forensic doctor examined her after the health and judicial protocol for victims of sexual violence was activated.
Given that the incident involved a minor, UFAM Sagunto took charge of the investigation. Investigators were able to identify and swiftly detain the two alleged sexual aggressors.
Both suspects, who reportedly had no prior police record, were released after appearing before a judge. The court issued protective measures, including an order to stay away from the victim, the withdrawal of their passports, and a prohibition on leaving the national territory. The case remains under judicial supervision as further inquiries continue.
Public safety officials emphasize the importance of reporting suspicious behavior and seeking immediate help in situations where a minor could be exposed to danger. Local authorities reaffirm their commitment to safeguarding the rights and welfare of minors and ensuring that those who commit violent acts are held accountable with full respect for due process and victim support protocols.
