Two individuals were detained by the National Police in Alicante in connection with a drug trafficking investigation that centered on a so-called narcotics circle operating from a residence in the city center.
Investigators began looking into possible drug retailing after information came in about a point of sale and distribution of synthetic medicines from a home. With the tips gathered, authorities narrowed the focus to two men believed to be responsible for distributing the substances to multiple buyers at street level.
Following hours of surveillance and on-site monitoring, law enforcement officers arrested two men, aged 24 and 46, during a coordinated operation. A search of the residence yielded a range of illegal substances, including methamphetamine or equivalent drugs, as well as other synthetic narcotics. The seizure also included ecstasy, methamphetamine, crystal, ketamine, 2CB and cocaine. In addition, officers recovered one liter of GHB, two precision scales and about eight hundred euros in cash in various denominations.
More items were seized during the operation, according to police statements. The breadth of the drugs recovered indicated a well-stocked retail operation capable of meeting varied buyer preferences.
Authorities noted that the wide assortment of substances being circulated through this retail channel was a key factor in disrupting the illicit market that served a broad customer base. The police highlighted the arrest as a significant step in reducing a major selling point for narcotics on a medium scale.
The investigation was conducted by agents from Group I Narcotics of the Alicante Northern District Police Station. After being brought to the courthouse, the two individuals were ordered to remain in custody while further legal proceedings are prepared.
