The National Police in collaboration with Málaga Local Police conducted a joint operation last Monday night, leading to the arrest of two men, ages 31 and 39, who are suspected of involvement in a recent incident. A store robbery in Málaga capital left a business couple injured, prompting a rapid police response.
The suspects have prior records and are accused of inflicting considerable violence on the two victims in crimes of a similar nature. One of the victims required hospital transport after sustaining a head wound from a blunt weapon used during the assault.
The events unfolded around 10:30 p.m. after an emergency room alert reported a robbery at a shop in the Bailén-Miraflores district. Early reports stated that two assailants entered the establishment, covered their faces with motorcycle helmets, wore gloves, and one of them carried a weapon that appeared to be a pistol with a grenade-like device.
Several units from both the National Police and Málaga Local Police rushed to the scene and coordinated their efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for the robbery. Access to the cash register remained blocked for the attackers during the confrontation.
Inside the vicinity, plainclothes officers assigned to the National Police night unit arrested one suspect at the door of his workplace. He was restrained after a scuffle that involved the wounded shopkeeper and nearby witnesses. The officers secured the scene and attended to the bleeding head injury while a firearm bearing signs of handling was seized as evidence.
Meanwhile, Málaga Local Police located and detained the second suspect in a doorway on a street near the bazaar. This individual was found shirtless and without one of his shoes following the struggle with the store managers.
The Theft Group of the Málaga Provincial Police continues the investigation to fully clarify all facts. There is no scheduled court appearance for the detainees this Wednesday. The inquiry also links one of the suspects to another robbery reported at an ice cream parlor in Virreina around 1:20 a.m. on June 3, where approximately 3,000 euros were stolen using a similar approach to the bazaar incident, according to authorities.
