Overview of a Violent Crime in the Krasnodar Territory Involving Two Animators

In a chilling sequence of events in the Krasnodar Territory, animator Tatyana Mostyko witnessed the violent murder of her colleague Kirill Chubko. The assault occurred as the two were returning from a vacation home and encountered a deadly ambush near a forest belt. Authorities subsequently documented the grim details from the investigation and ensuing inquiries.

On the evening of April 28, 2023, Kirill Chubko and Tatyana Mostyko were traveling from Krylovskaya village toward Ust-Labinsk. Inclement weather and intensifying rain led them to choose a shorter route along a country road instead of the main federal highway. Their sedan passed a nearby farm where an incident altered the course of the night. Chubko managed to contact his wife, assuring her that help would arrive and that he had encountered people offering assistance.

Investigators identified three suspects, aged 44, 30, and 31, who reportedly wandered the region for several days in search of targets. That same evening, they allegedly encountered the animators and offered aid. The suspects led Kirill Chubko to the village of Berezanskaya, returned to assist with repairs, and used force to abduct him. Preliminary accounts describe one suspect approaching Chubko from behind, muffling his screams, and forcing him to the ground while another restrained him with handcuffs.

The assailants also bound the animators, threatened them with a knife, confiscated mobile phones and bank cards, and learned access credentials. The trio drove the victims in Kirill Chubko’s car to the village of Irklievskaya, with CCTV footage showing a hooded figure exiting the vehicle to withdraw money from an ATM before returning. Similar transactions occurred in Kanevskaya, resulting in a total of 250,000 rubles taken from the victims’ accounts.

According to investigators, Kirill Chubko was stabbed, and the killers retrieved a shovel from the car to dig a grave in a forest belt before burying the body. The group moved from village to village in an apparent effort to erase traces, and at one point they reportedly set fire to Kirill Chubko’s car along with the shovel and the phone. Tatiana Mostyko was present for the sequence and later became a victim herself when the assailants dragged her into the forest.

Vehicle records showed the perpetrators had traveled in a VAZ-21014 registered with Moscow plates. The car had been sold, and the new owner reportedly did not register the vehicle. Investigators traced the involvement of a key organizer, Demyan Kevorkyan, with the others acting under his direction. The companions expressed fear and loyalty to the gang, and separate statements suggested that some were killed to maintain silence while others faced fatal outcomes for not following orders. The timeline indicates payments totaling 30,000 rubles and 20,000 rubles for individual roles, and a larger sum of 200,000 rubles allocated to Kevorkyan for orchestrating the operation.

The victim’s spouse, who had previously endured a loss in the Krasnodar Territory, has urged that the murderers face justice to the fullest extent. The case remains under close examination as authorities pursue all leads and verify the sequence of events to ensure accountability for every participant.

Summary conclusions from the ongoing investigation emphasize the predatory nature of the crime, the coordination among the suspects, and their attempts to conceal the murder and related activities. The reporting continues to highlight the impact on the local arts community and the need for safety measures among traveling professionals.
