The bodies of two women, both aged 55, were found near the university residence in the area known as Hoya de la Mora, situated in the municipality of Monachil within Granada’s Sierra Nevada. This information was reported to EFE on Tuesday by a Civil Guard spokesperson.
The Civil Guard activated the relevant judicial protocol and opened an inquiry into the incident. It stated that around 14:00 yesterday, a person reported two Hungarian nationals lying on the ground near the residence, raising early concerns about their condition.
The initial tip-off suggested that the women were deceased. A patrol confirmed the discovery, and the situation was subsequently passed to the area and to a medical professional for review.
While awaiting the autopsy results, authorities indicated that there were no immediate signs of violence, and frostbite could be a possible cause of death given the local conditions.
Details about the deceaseds activities in the area remain unclear. It is not known whether they were tourists or hikers, and their Spanish residence was not registered, nor was there a missing persons report filed for them.
