In early February, a drunk woman assaulted a restaurant patron in Tver, slashing her face with a broken glass. The injured person reported the incident to local media, citing the victim’s account of what happened.
On the night of February 5, the victim was seated with a friend, her daughter, and her boyfriend in a downtown Tver restaurant. According to the companion, the group was waiting for a taxi when two women approached their table. While intoxicated, one of the visitors began making accusations toward the victim, and a dispute quickly escalated. When the victim refused to reconcile with the other woman, the assailant seized a glass, struck the table with it, and slashed the victim across the face with the broken edge.
The wounded woman rushed to the restroom to stem the bleeding, but the attacker followed and a confrontation resumed there. Other restaurant patrons captured the events on their mobile phones, while staff did not intervene at the moment. Management later provided basic first aid with hydrogen peroxide and assisted the victim with care for the cuts.
Local police teams arrived and chose not to record statements from witnesses or to detain the alleged aggressor on the scene. Instead, they directed responders to a city hospital, where the victim underwent emergency surgery lasting more than two hours. She required 18 stitches to her face, and surgeons noted a fragment of glass nearly protruding, leaving a small gap in front of it. Shortly after, the victim received a brain CT scan at a different hospital, where law enforcement requested a forensic examination and took a written statement.
The following day, the victim went to the coroner for examination. During the assessment, she fainted, and after additional CT scans, doctors recommended her hospitalization and diagnosed a severe concussion.
Although improving, the patient continues to experience sleep difficulties and requires psychological support, with tranquilizers proving largely ineffective. The attack also resulted in impaired vision in the left eye. The victim did not pursue further treatment at the hospital. She is a mother of three children.
The victim recalls finding a 2012 news report on the publication’s website about a drunken woman and her friend who were detained by traffic police. A video from the moment of custody allegedly shows the restaurant patron identifying the attacker present in the footage.
At this time, the victim awaits the results of the forensic examination and the pre-trial police review. She hopes authorities will file criminal charges against the perpetrator and that the court will deliver a fair sentence.
