A mother from the Tver region has been arrested on charges of torturing her two children. The Ostashkovo interregional court reported the case in a public briefing that outlined the alleged acts and the legal steps taken thus far.
Investigators found a long pattern of violence against the daughter, born in 2011, including beatings with hands, a wooden hanger, and other objects over a span of several years. The same woman is accused of subjecting her younger son, born in 2014, to similar cruelty. The sustained abuse involved not only physical harm but also deliberate neglect that worsened the children’s living conditions.
According to the charging documents, the parent repeatedly beat the children and deprived them of food, actions that led to the daughter being hospitalized for a period of time. In addition to the physical harm, the mother is said to have insulted the children in a harsh, demeaning manner and instilled a demand for absolute submission and obedience. Such conduct is described as causing both physical and mental distress.
Earlier, the woman was detained on suspicion of torturing minors and refused to acknowledge the alleged crimes. The court subsequently ordered her detention for two months to ensure the investigation could proceed without risk of interference.
Footage from surveillance in Naberezhnye Chelny reportedly captured the woman’s hostile treatment of her son, underscoring the seriousness of the allegations and the ongoing investigation.
