The tragedy involves a 20-year-old Ukrainian refugee who was fatally injured in a traffic crash near Sagunto on March 28. After days in a coma at La Fe hospital in Valencia, she passed away. The injury severity required air transport to the hospital, reflecting the seriousness of the collision. At the scene, a Lexus carried the young woman and two companions and was among several vehicles damaged on the route from Sagunt to Canet d’en Berenguer. In total, six people were hurt in the crash. An SUV, driven by a man accompanied by two children aged 3 and 8, was also among the impacted vehicles, contributing to the chaotic aftermath of the accident.
Following the confirmation of the young woman’s death, she was cremated in a Valencia funeral home. A farewell ceremony was held, with family members traveling from Germany and other parts of Europe to pay their respects and support one another in this difficult time.
The accident occurred during preparations for marriage
The young woman’s boyfriend had traveled to the Camp de Morvedre area, seeking to settle an impending marriage as they were escaping the disruption of war. Among the two other Ukrainians in the car at the time, one was released from hospital care after sustaining serious injuries. The third person remains under medical treatment for a severe head injury, with medical teams continuing to monitor progress and provide updates as available.
