Torrevieja femicide trial reveals years of abuse

Since Maria Elia began her relationship with Antonio David M. B., she stopped attending social events organized by people in her circle. Her partner, who would later be identified as her killer, did not permit her to participate. The day before the fatal attack, Elia had decided she would attend the Christmas dinner her colleagues planned. In a courtroom statement, the manager of a Torrevieja supermarket where Elia worked described her saying that she would have gone if it hadn’t happened. The Alicante Court is hearing a case of gender based violence that shook Torrevieja three years ago. It is not only for the brutality but also for the years of abuse and obsessive control that came to light.
