Top Spanish Brands 2023: Interbrand Ranking and Insights

Zara, the flagship brand of the Inditex group, ended 2023 with a value of 14.735 billion euros, rising 24 percent from 2021. For a fourth consecutive year, it leads the ranking of the 30 most valuable Spanish brands, while the Mallorcan hotel chain Meliá enters at position 28.

The total value of the 30-best Spanish brands list, prepared every two years by Interbrand, reached 55.873 billion euros, up 10 percent from 2021. In 2021, the top five brands represented about 70 percent of the total value.

Following Zara, other notable performers include Santander, which climbs to second place with 8.580 billion euros (up 21 percent); Movistar, at 7.287 billion euros (down 14 percent); BBVA, with 5.643 billion euros (up 18 percent); and CaixaBank, at 2.261 billion euros (up 16 percent).

Additionally, several brands debuted higher in the ranking this year. Cupra enters at the 11th spot, its value jumping to 1.208 billion euros. The hotel group Meliá appears at 28 with 218 million euros, and the distribution company Logista reaches 30 with 198 million euros.

Loewe, a luxury brand, stands out with a value of 481 million euros, the largest gain among the top Spanish brands in 2023, a rise of 25 percent from 2021.

The Interbrand Iberia and Middle East CEO, Nancy Villanueva, noted that Spanish brands continue to lift their results even in a cautious environment. The focus remains on protecting the core business and postponing bold moves for better times.

From sixth to twentieth place, the ranking includes Repsol, Mercadona, Iberdrola, Bershka, Massimo Dutti, Cupra, Mapfre, Prosegur, El Corte Inglés, Mahou, Real Madrid, Sabadell, Naturgy, Loewe, and FC Barcelona.
