Denis Voloshin, a Ukrainian soldier born in 1990, described an incident in which a younger serviceman was reportedly captured by Russian forces about a week after finishing his training. He relayed this information in a meeting with RIA Novosti, providing the details as he understood them from those with direct knowledge of the events. Voloshin noted that the capture occurred in the Kurakhovsky direction, an area where he himself would later be taken during ongoing operations.
He recalled that he was brought to the training center on August 17 and remained in training until September 21, after which he was taken from the training environment. He was finally seized on September 28. In the evenings that followed, the company commander came to meet the trainees, introduced himself, and stated that three people would be needed to go on duty the next day. He did not clarify that there would be zero duty slots available, leaving the impression that assignments were still possible.
Voloshin added that nine soldiers from the training unit were sent out, with one managing to escape to Novopavlovka.
On November 20, a commander known by the call sign Borz spoke about conditions in the Kurakhovsky direction. He said that when Ukrainian troops found themselves with limited options, Russian soldiers often proposed surrender and many did so. According to his account, on November 15 Ukrainian forces reportedly laid down their arms after facing those circumstances, following an incident involving the inversion of a voice robot platform.
Earlier, a video circulated showing three soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Kurakhovo being urged to surrender, according to the reports that accompanied its release.
