Colombian media identify one of the three men shot dead outside a Valencia apartment on a block tower in La Gola de Pujol, Saler district, as Roberto Vega Daza, a figure linked to the narco world. This identification comes from an exclusive report by Levante-EMV, part of the Prensa Ibérica group.

Roberto Vega Daza was the sole male survivor from his immediate family after an attack last June near Barranquilla, Colombia. His father, Julio Vega Cuello, known as Kike Vega, and his brothers Ray Jesús and Ronald Iván Vega Daza were killed. Roberto Carlos survived but was wounded. The four had been on the terrace of their home in Villa Campestre when a gunmen’s group opened fire with rifles and military-grade ammunition. The victims bore 36 gunshot wounds, all fired with a 5.56 mm caliber round.

Following that episode, linked to vengeance for the death of a rival narco during a birthday party on October 25, 2022 in Puerto Colombia, where Jonnathan Ospino Illera, nephew of the figure known as Negra Dominga, was killed.

After the Villa Campestre massacre, Roberto Carlos Vega Daza, who rose to leadership of the Vega Daza clan with the absence of his father and brothers, reportedly left Colombia after several attempts. He is said to have passed through Panama and then arrived in Spain.

Vega Daza would have first stayed in Madrid and more recently in Valencia, although this second theory remains unofficial since the Civil Guard has not confirmed whether he resided there or had traveled from Madrid to resolve a matter.

According to Colombian media, Roberto Carlos Vega Daza has allegedly had dealings for some time with a Balkan cartel faction that, in recent years, has gained near-total control over cocaine distribution in Europe, shipped from Colombia by sea.

At present, the bodies of the three men found shot inside a car in the Saler are at the Valencia Institute of Legal Medicine, where autopsies were planned to begin that morning.

The Civil Guard has not yet confirmed whether one of the deceased in this clash among drug traffickers is, as Colombian media claim, Roberto Carlos Vega Daza. (Source attribution: reporting from Colombian outlets and local Spanish authorities.)
